I'm pretty sure the birthday party was more for me than her. I creeped myself out by caring way too much about the cake and ice cream. Lulu has again come down with another sickness and so she was miserable and didn't even try the cake. Poor little soul. Her mini tea set and baby stroller perked her right up and made us all a little happier. The cake was geared more towards me and Amandas taste preferences(the boys call it healthy), but it really wasn't that healthy. You can get the recipe here, I think it was scrumptious, but that could be the twins talking. We had a good time playing spin jude, hot tubing and then watched the movie submarine.

Carrying twins is a whole new ballgame. I'm only 24 weeks and it feels like I'm 9 months. Sleeping? nope. Back pains? Yep. Sinus already? yes, yes, yes. My cravings are completely different too, I can't eat anything sweet, not even fruit(doesn't stop me though he he) and the boys like anything salty, green(only raw veggies) or cheesy. The other day I was swimming laps at the gym and when I asked to share a lane with a guy, he was like, "sure as long as you don't start a tidal wave." Oh really. Twins squirm, stretch and kick all day long. I have a feeling they are going to be rambunctious little critters that will be busy raising hell. Am I scared? I'm terrified. My mom went into early labor with Amanda and I at 6 months and was on bed rest for the next couple of months. let's hope and pray that doesn't happen to me. I'll post another picture in a couple of weeks because every day my belly grows.

Last pregnancy people would ask if I was nesting and I was like, huh? What's that? I never jumped on the nesting train, but this time around, the twins have me in the craziest nesting frenzy. I think I've gone a little overboard, these are just a few of my creations. This weekend I'm beginning a landscape mural in Lulu's new room and handprinting the twins bumpers and blankets. After that, I'm pretty much finished.

Pregnant, what? I busted open a jar of pickles when I was at walmart and I guess I didn't close the lid tight enough because the juices spilled all over the ground and my groceries. It was nasty. I couldn't get the smell of pickle out for days.

We have two white owls in the neighborhood that are about 4 feet tall. This tree is where they hang out. The neighbors think thats where all the cats are disappearing too. I've heard the owls could also pick up a small dog. We found where their nests are and visit often to try and get a glimpse, but you have to go right before it gets dark if you want to see anything.

Lindsey and John did it again, they managed to outdo themselves. They hosted a Christmas party again this year and the theme was white trash. I look forward to it every year.

The first smile I had seen for weeks. What a treasure
Lulu has been sick for over a month now. It just seems to rotate from one sickness to another. For a week straight, she was sleeping 22 hours a day and was unresponsive when she was awake. She wouldn't eat and it scared us to death. Poor little thing. She looks like a walking skeleton right now, people probably think I have issues and like to have a skinny kid. She's starting to gain a little back, but only weighs 22 lbs. We went to the doctor to get a blood test because we didn't know what she had, but it turned out that she had acquired two ear infections on the way, so now she is re cooperating from those. Get better soon pumpkin!

This is what we drove home to on Christmas night. Some drunk guy missed the road and drove down the hill towards our house. He landed right where our car was parked and missed our suberu by inches. Luckily there was no one else was in the car. They had to cut him out from the door and a helicopter picked him up. If any of us were outside, we would have been toast.

The next morning, we found syringes, glass, and all sorts of trash all over our yard. They still haven't cleaned it up

We made friends with one of the cops from the scene and offered them hot cocoa. A week later, Adam got pulled over, turns out it was the same cop and he let him go. That's some good karma

Who's that creepy santa in the background you might ask? My mom still has it from her boutique back in the day, Bentley Square. It was a grip too, like $2,000. She tried to sell it at a garage sale, but no luck. I was so surprised no one wanted to store the life size Santa in their house. Jude was a good little plaid baby Jesus.

We were a little festive this year dressing in our christmas best. Next year I want to dress the kids like elves.

This is a big year for Grandma because she turns 100. I love Christmas eve at her house, it's by far my favorite part about Christmas. Cousins, distant cousins, we all gather for a nativity, a pot luck dinner and a santa that brings gifts. When Adam and I lived in grandmas basement, the Christmas decor was like a one week extravaganza. She goes all out

That angel doll in the corner was extra creepy because she would move around, she had a life of her own.
I love the Xmas tree. Dolls and goods are stuffed into the branches. I think it's all part of the generation that more is always better.

Christmas was nice this year, it was relaxed. Last year we spent our Christmas and Christmas eve shuffling between inlaws and parents and I was like, never again. Lulu was up all night Christmas eve throwing up, so that was a bit of a downer, but she steadied like a champ on Christmas morning.

The goods- Adams big present was a towel rack heater. He has wanted one of these for who knows how long.

My treasure- snow pants. If you saw a glipse of my last pair you would be just as happy. I looked like MC Hammer on the slopes.
I wiped a tear when I opened this. Adam hacked into my pinterest and found some little gems I had saved, what a smart little elf he is. This year even though I told him not to get me anything, he did anyways because he knows how women are I guess.
The usual, a book of our blog and our calendar. Every year I vow it will be my last because they take so many hours to put together, but I always forget when November rolls around and I do it again.

Call it nesting, I don't know but Adam was teasing me because I was buying this stuff in October on ebay.

Our trip to Thailand seemed to last forever because we drove to LA to drop off my paintings, flew to Thailand, and then drove home from LA. Lulu was really good both ways and pretty much slept the whole time we were in the car.

Bakersfield was where my show was and it was littered with thrift shops on every corner. My heart was a pitter pattering, but the shops ended up being so ghetto. Way beyond my limits. Mo drove down for the day and she had the look of horror when we walked into our first thrift mart. Lulu picked up a stuffed animal from the ground that looked like it had been dragged behind a semi.
Both of us gasped at first because we thought a wee little one suffocated under the rubble. But it turned out to be just one of those creepy life size time out dolls.

This was another thrift shop I waltzed into by my lonesome. Thought I was going to get snatched or shot, it was in the most ghetto part of town and daylight was burning. It took me an hour to get here by foot and I spent a whole 30 seconds inside before I turned around and ran(literally) home.

We were always the earliest risers. 8 am you would think the island was abandoned, but by 3, stragglers start making their way to the beaches, most laying out and others doing karate and handstands, or playing soccer. Its pure entertainment. Adam is not a lay-outer. He gets real bored, real fast. So, he started digging these holes to trap Lulu in for some entertainment. One time, he was digging really deep and saw something kind of odd, like a stick, and went to grab it and it was like a snake/slug thing that slithered and disappeared into the depths of the sand. It traumatized him.

The last 3- four days on Koh Phi phi were sad because I came down with the flu. It was pretty miserable I won’t lie. I walked around like a zombie with the rest of the hung-over hippies and laid in bed half the day. Lulu didn’t get sick until the very end of our trip, but now her and Adam are on their death bed. On the airplane ride home, my sinuses were kicking in and I thought my head was going to explode. Before the trip, I called adam the master lemon because he’s always sick, but I took the cake this trip, it was my karma for calling him a lemon.

Our favorite massage parlor. One of the times when we were getting massages, this guy came in and they shuffled him into the corner, giggling, and shut the curtains. I was like, Ok, I know what's going on, getting a little happy ending are we? Turns out he was getting the full wax treatment. We are talking armpits, back, down under, you name it. I don't like it, I like guys with a little hair on their legs and chest.

Adam would have taken his girl home if he could. She was a 60 year old something with hands as strong as an ox. He was in love. I think the feelings were mutual too.

See those flowers and goodies above the mirror? They give thanks to Buddha everyday by giving fruit and flower sacrifices.

The locals thought we were crazy for staying so close to the beach because at night this is where all the magic happens. It turns into a full rave and it is almost impossible to sleep through the music.

There are so many white lifers here. They came for a visit and never left, now just roaming the streets and working as club promoters or scuba instructors. We would see them once in awhile with a Thai baby, or in a bungalow quilting their days away.

My belly began to grow at a rapid pace when we got to Koh Phi Phi and hasn't slowed down yet. It is now the size of lulu when I was 8 months pregnant. Do your worst stretch marks, do your worst. Welcome to motherhood.

Koh Phi Phi

I love Koh Phi phi. Its like a khosan road with an amazing beach. Amanda and Cubby call this island Cat Island because I think there are more cats than humans. At first, I wouldn’t let lulu touch them, and by the end, I was picking them up and bringing them over to her. We stayed here for about a week and by the time we were leaving, everyone knew lulus name and she made a couple friends with the locals. Our favorite place that we stayed here was near the sunset beach. Even though it was a fire throwing, techno beating party every night, the days were perfect. Our bungalow would vibrate beginning at 10pm with the sounds of four different parties a blaring and wouldn’t stop until about 5. We ventured out one night and it was pretty amazing. The fire throwers are all crack head skinny I am sure because they are burning like a thousand calories a second. A couple of times a fire stick landed on a very flammable object, like a straw tent, and no one seemed to care or flinch. There were like seven fire shows going on all at the same time on the same beach. I bet one started and it was a hit, so all the hotels did it. Every hour they would throw out fireworks from their hands, and again, no one seemed the least bit alarmed.

I hate centipedes more than anything. You really can't get the full nasty scope of this guy, but it was ginormous. In the middle of the night, he made his way to the tiles. Adam got up to go to the bathroom and thought it was a stick, so he stepped on it and it made this crunchy, squishy sound that I can never forget. It's juices squirted all over the walls. Gave me the shivers.

Lulus tent. It is up there competing as one of our best purchases of all time. I bought a defected baby bjorn pack and play on ebay and we discovered it just in time to buy this back up. We were skeptical at first, but it turned out to be pretty genius. Its small and light, pops open, acts as a mosquito net and is a good cage. The only problem with it, was after a couple of weeks, Lulu learned how to open it from the inside. So, at four in the morning, she would come creeping to the bed laughing and running around. Bah ram u tent! The fabric in the tent is like this silky, slippery waterproof stuff that makes Lulu sweat like crazy. Other than that, it was perfect.

I had many bad parent moments when we were traveling. Don't want to put on your life jacket? Here's a sucker. Hungry? Here's a sucker.

I think this was the prettiest place I've ever stayed. It was amazing. When the longboat dropped us off here, Adam went searching for hotels and the prices were from the moon. We were like, where are we? The cheapest hotel there was $100 and everything was sold out. Oh man. At dinner, all the couples were taking solo shots by the sunset and the elevator music was a blazing. Made me miss our hippy friends on the other side. We soaked up the sun and enjoyed the perfect, white beaches.

Do you see what I see? I freaked out when I saw this snake slithering up the pole, maybe he was waiting to drop on his next victim from above.
This hotel was run by some Chinese people who were the biggest penny pinchers. if you left your TV on, you had to pay a fee. In the morning, I asked for some hard boiled eggs and I'm sure it was their first attempt because I think they were cooked for maybe 30 sec.

snorkeling trip

One of my favorite days was when we took a mini snorkeling trip to the surrounding islands. We left Lulu behind with a babysitter we found. I know a little sketchy, but I wasn't scared. They were the nicest people out and they showed her a good time. When we got home to Lulu, she was playing in the street with some other rug rats and the babysitters had fed her a feast of sugar. She latched onto me pretty tight and I was like, OK I won't leave you again little one. So, for the rest of the trip we were kind of in baby prison. Adam went scuba diving one day, but I had to stay behind.

This part of the snorkeling trip was kind of worthless. They dropped us off here for an hour and wouldn't let us use our masks, so everyone was stuck on the beach. By the end, more and more boats docked and it became a mini hippy party. Some people even whipped out their fire throw sticks and went to town. It was pure comedy. Everyone was stoked to be here because it was where they filmed "The Beach" with Leonardo(my long lost love when he looked like he was 12).

We got to monkey beach this time around when the tide was high, so the hopes of hanging on the beach with all the grubbing monkeys was a no show. I didn't mind, monkeys still scare me silly.

Thailand

Its become a tradition that after an art show, we take a trip and celebrate my short time of freedom before I need to dive back in. We were planning on going to the Phillipines, but changed our plans last minute because of malaria and typhoid; with me being pregnant and towing lulu along, I didn’t think it was the brightest idea. Bringing a baby had its ups and downs. The traveling portion, which seemed like eternity, was like a living nightmare. The flight was 20 hours and that’s not counting waiting in the airport, taxis to and fro, it was rough. Imagine a screaming, tantrum throwing, kicking the backs of chairs, crying baby for 15 of those hours. I think it shed a couple of years off of my life span. Adam and I were so checked out and neither of us got a wink of sleep. Once we got to Thailand, she was pretty good. Considering that she got two molars and came down with the flu, I consider the girl a champ. It was fun having a buddy on the beaches and exploring, but let’s just say, this is not a good age to travel with, trust me. From now on, all far away destinations will be taken with just Adam and I. Later twins and lulu

Chatachuk Market

The market is my biggest draw to Thailand. Beaches? What beaches? Its kind of pathetic, but you have to see it to believe it. I was true soldier this year, arriving right on time outside the gates Charlie and the chocolate factory style. My heart beat was like pitter pattering. From there, the race was on. I can’t even try to explain the scope of this place, its huge. If it was in America, no one would be walking. Instead they would have rascals because its too far to walk. Not in Thailand, girls are wearing jeans without a drip of sweat and here I am overheating with a purple face hanging on a thread. Its kind of torture shopping, but the bounty is worth it. Good thing we went to the market first because my belly grew like ten fold by the end of the trip. My lowpoint was when I was trying something on and the girl said, I sorry, we don’t have a very large size in that one. Oh really home girl. I tried to motion that I was pregnant, but she thought I was just fat. Those Asians are born abnormally tiny. I will blog some goodies later. My favorite section this year – the vintage section. I bet it’s a mile long.

By 2pm the place is packed and its hotter than hades. I brought an empty rolling suitcase to stash my goods, which turned out to be the most genius idea I’ve ever had.

Bankok was far too familiar, I recognized vendors and knew where everything was. Khosan road lost its luster for me, maybe its because I had a baby, but I don’t know, I was like later. It’s like a hippys party paradise. We stayed here for a couple of days and then stayed in a different hotel around the city everynight so we could explore the whole town. I liked it that way. The last day we were on Khosan, a texting motercycle fool almost ran over lulu and a stray dog tried to bite her. I was like bye bye. Amanda said she met a girl here who had crutches and when she asked her what had happened, she said a stray dog with rabies bit her. I scary. As we were leaving, I was zipping up my suitcase and a couple baby cocraches scurried out. You can’t beat the prices here though. One hour foot massage? $6. Pad thai? $1. Once we got to the islands, the prices were from the moon and we were wishing we were back on Khosan. I am sure I sound like a Debbie downer, but I don’t care. It’s the pregnancy talking

The theme of this trip? “I’m hungry.” The twins had me in this weird ravenous stage where I had to eat every 2-3 hours, and if I didn’t… Well, it wasn’t pretty. They must have been in a growth spurt because my belly expanded ten times since the time we left. Its now the size that I was 7 months pregnant with Lulu. I’m going to be huge.

This is a picture of when we were watching Jude. He gets cuter by the day I swear. You can tell I am hanging on by a thread here. Being sick really sucked the life and soul out of me. It was an eyeopener watching two babies at the same time, it had me second guessing being pregnant, and then a week later I found out we were having twins. Ruh rogh. Jude had Lulu in a kind of jealous rage all week, she just couldn't shake it. She is in for a rude awakening when the babies arrive.

Adam is a tease. This is when the Japs were staying at our house. They asked for toilet paper and said that they need a lot because they use "very much." So, when they got home, there was toilet paper rolls hidden all over their room and Adam was teasing them all night about it. The pyramid was the topper, I told him I thought it was overboard, but they got a good laugh.

Digging up carrots is like searching and finding a pot of gold. I got a weird high and the twins were telling me to eat some, even with the dirt on. And they weren't easy to pull up either, I was out there sweating with a big shovel and gloves. Not really what I pictured.

Halloween

These are the only pictures that turned out from Halloween. I had a busy weekend attending a life drawing workshop, so Monday was kind of like a scramble to catch up. When we first started trick or treating, Lulu was super shy, but after she got some sugar in her, it was like a whole new little person. She was so drugged up and was no longer afraid of strangers. I don't know if thats a good thing, um, don't take candy from strangers, in the future. After Teenys, we dressed up and went to get a scare out of grandma. The boys went up to the door with two other random teenage punks and told them to just play along. Adam and cubby kept on taking candy and Roselle started geting really mad and told them to "scram, beat it! " She grabbed adams hand and had the death grip on him with her sharp nails. She got a good laugh when she found out who the tricksters were. For the rest of the night, she called Lulu a boy no matter how many times I told her otherwise and I think she thought Jude was a girl

Any guesses? The last thing I ever expected was two boys. One maybe, but my gut told me I was having girls, or maybe thats just what I wanted my little baby gut to think. It's going to be crazy around here, I'm going to be on serious lock down for the next couple of years. What am I going to do with two boys? I am dying to know whether or not they are identical or fraternal, but we won't know until the birth, oh man. Pork chop A twin is hogging all the food and B twin is three days behind in size, which seemed like a lot. A twin was swimming, turning, having a grand old time while the runt was probably trying to conserve his energy because he knew he was going to get the scraps. Poor little runt, hang in there soldier. I started to think about all the things that I am going to need for boys, well pretty much everything. All my girl clothes are too girly and I am swimming in them by the way. So This next 5 months is going to be a mad scramble to get everything together before they make their appearance.

Twins!!!

Since I have been so ridiculousy sick this time around, even on medication, I really wanted some piece of mind. I needed an ultrasound so that I could hear a heartbeat and get some encouragement. Amanda went to a mall for an ultrasound when she was pregnant so I was like, why not? Found a really smart, qualified doctor from Lithuania who gave us the news. Lulu thought I was hurt laying down so she was crying, she stopped when she came and laid down next to me. That’s when the doctor was like, “I have some good news for you.” I looked on the screen and saw the two little slugs. Twins. What? Huh? Adam was in shock and so was I. Two? Identical or Ferternal? He didn’t know. Do they both have heartbeats? Yup. That’s when one of the slugs waved at me with its little claw arm. Got my heart a pitterpattering right then and there. Ok, I can do it. I gots to. I was too sick to celebrate, but we went anyways, to cheesecake factory. They brought me the wrong dish- chicken tacos instead of fish- you idiots! Just kidding, I didn’t care none and they gave me the whole shebang for free. This day just is getting better and better. We were on cloud nine, so excited and then all of a sudden, it really hit both of us. Wait, that means we are going to have 3 kids under the age of three. I’m one of those? Oh man. Wait, do we need two cribs? Another car seat? We stopped at Target on the way home, which was a bad, a very bad idea. I wanted to roam the baby isle to get some ideas. It sent Adam into kind of a panic mode. Ever since he has been like a ghost. Working his little heart out until the sun goes down. Gotta pay for those two kids somehow. Oh one more thing. The next night, I had a dream. Kind of like a nightmare. I was taking a test and was not prepared, yep, I know you have had them. In the morning, I googled up my dream, apparently, it’s a very popular search. This is what it had to say; “Test dreams also suggest that you are feeling unprepared for a challenge. Rarely, these dreams are about the actual content of the test, but rather it is more about the process and how you feel during the exam taking process. These feelings often parallel how you are actually feeling in a particular challenge or situation in your waking like.”

If you haven't guessed it already, I'm pregnant. Skipped a period and was like, sure why not I'll get a test just in case. To my surprise, it was positive, so I ran to the store, bought some balloons before Adam got home and delivered the news. He was really excited and we went out to eat to celebrate. But, we knew what was coming... The sick days, the worthless days, the days where I'm hanging on by a thread. A week later, those came.

I really don’t remember it being this rough last time. I’m sure it was and I must have repressed that memory. My mom said if I was anything like her, I would be sick for 60 days. So, last time, I made a calendar where I marked off each day. There were tear marks that smudged the numbers on almost all of the days. I would shed a tear after throwing up and then I would mark a day off. Pretty dramatic, but it’s awful. The first week was definitely the worste, that was before I got myself of some much needed medication. When I called the hospital and talked to a nurse, I bursted out crying and I couldn’t even control myself. I was like, help me please. It was scary to feel that sick. I couldn’t eat anything, besides 2 or 3 saltine crackers, I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t get out of bed, and I couldn’t even watch TV. That’s when I knew it was bad. I was panicking because of my art show in Decemeber and the kid that I am supposed to be looking after. I felt like I couldn’t do it. I was scared. Now that I’m on medication, it’s a love/hate relationship. The stuff I’m on is in the family of sleeping pills, so it feels like there is a thick fog that engulfs me and I am fighting to stay awake. It turns you into a zombie and just takes the edge off, so I’m still sick, but I can manage. I don’t know how women go through this for 9 months out of their pregnancies. I have pity on their souls. Lulu has become an abandoned child let to fend for herself. Dirty diaper? Who cares. Lunch? How about some saltines. It’s a matter of time before she aquires an imaginary friend. When I have more kids, I’m getting a nanny. The only thing that gets me through the day is painting. It’s weird, It’s the only thing I can do where I don’t feel sick, so I’m painting like crazy(with a gas mask). So if you have not seen me for the past 2 months, that is because I am in survival mode. Can't get in the car either. I’m feeling pretty sorry for myself right about now and I think I need to have a better attitude. The garden has overgrown and the sight of a vegetable makes me nauseous. All that hard work for nothing!

My appetite is bizarre, pretty much the only things I can eat are the color or sand- saltines, baked potatoes, butter, cheese, French fries, crackers, popcorn, sourcream, and cream of wheat. I can’t eat anything sweet, including fruit and anything remotely healthy is a no. Can’t even drink water. So, I am counting down the days, I have about 40 more to go. Wish me luck.

I never want to watch TV again.

I don't know how she eats the seeds and all. She could pound this whole basket if I let her. The Japs love these grapes too. They almost died when they saw the size of my eggplants. Do we let ours grow too big here in America? I'm sure we do, but they pick them at about 5 inches.
This year, I had this great vision of a pebble pathway adorned with earthy wildflowers and grasses. Laid the path, planted the seeds and now it looks like white trash gone bad. A little too wild for both our liking, so now we are thinking about some new plans for the pathway. Maybe a simple modern ground cover, grasses, grass or wild contained landscaping? I dunno, but landscaping with bushes and flowers would be too much work and I'm worried it would look too mumbo jumbo. Help me someone! As for now, we are picking the wildflowers that emerged and we enjoy them for a couple of days before they wilt

Kimiko and Tako

Adam taught English in Japan way back in the day and he lived with Kimiko and Tako. They usually stay at Josh and Cherie's when they come to visit, but this time, Adam received an email four days before they were coming. They said, we are coming to SLC for 6 weeks, can we stay at your house? We will be there on Saturday. So, here we are living with a Japanese couple. At first, I was a little skeptical because I really value my space and time, but after the first couple of days, I was sold. I told them they can stay as long as they want, well kind of. They cook dinner for us every night and clean. Say what? And babysit too. I should have known, Japanese people are the most considerate kind. They made Adams favorite dish, Gyoza, it took them at least 6 hours to prepare. Adam and I ate more than a family of 5. What can I say? It's nice to get taken care of for once. There are a couple of drawbacks though.. they are scared to drive, so they like us to take them everywhere. Adams busy working and I'm a prisoner, so they are left to fend for themselves. Scares us both think of them driving out there. We are planning a small getaway to Jackson Hole and Vegas with them soon. Yesterday they went to Reno and Kimiko won $96 on the slot machines. She was on a high. They keep on saying how cheap everything is. America has become the new Mexico. I'm going to take them to the dollar store tomorrow, it's their favorite place.

I just got some film developed and found these gems. Muskrat lake has my heart, I love it more and more every year. In the beginning, I was still gunning for the big lake, but the intimacy of muskrat has me hooked. We are both so glad that we didn't jump the gun and build up here a couple of years ago. Two impulsive people is trouble. But, one day I hope to have a small, humble cabin that we can spend our summers in.

We decided to take one last trip to Idaho before the weather turned. Everytime I do the drive, I vow I will never do it again, but my memory fails me. We spent a total of five days in the car for three days on the Cocolalla lake, but it was worth it, kinda. It felt nice just to be on the road.

On the way, we stopped at Mccall to check out their lake. It didn't even compare to Sandpoint, I'm spoiled.

Someone set up a driftwood sculpture on the beach. I wonder if it's our neighbor Leif at Muskrat. He has the neighborhood in a frenzy because of all of the rock sculptures he's building.

Adam set up a little bed for me in the back of the car. Me and Lulu were little road trip buddies. We picked up a tv for her that played baby Einstein. It was worth every last penny

My favorite day was when we went on the big lake. It never gets old. Lulu was a pretty good sport, even fell asleep in my arms which never ever happens.

The garden has been quite an experiment this year. None of my strawberries produced, the carrots were late in the game, but finally made their appearance, the tomatoes bushes are monsterous with little fruit, and the peppers are small and short. I did have much luck though with the eggplants, squash, radishes, beets, and lettuces. I studied like a good student and took notes, I just don't know where it went wrong. My suspicion lies in the watering and the shading from our porch.
So many of my pictures are of Lulu, it's hard not to photograph your shadow when it's always there. In the past couple of weeks, she has turned from independent Lulu to needy Lulu. Kind of cute, but I need my space too. If i'm sitting down, she wants to sit on my lap, watching tv, on my lap. If I'm eating, on my lap or holding my hand. What can I say, she loves me. None of my dogs did, so this is all new to me. I love what she is doing in this picture- she is playing with her reflection in the oven door.
Did I mention that she is a climber? Just waiting for the day until she topples over her crib. I am now baby proofing the entire house. I had a good scare when I saw her climb on my desk with an exacto knife at arms reach. It scared the begebees out of me.

Dan, Darcy, Zach and Mo came in town for the weekend, it was so fun to play, eat, hang out with kids and to spend a little time in the outdoors. I don't know what we were thinking hiking a mountain and camping with four babies. After twenty minutes into the hike we were all like, um, let's go back down and play in the lake. I was down because I wasn't feeling so good so we headed to mud lake.

After mud lake, we headed to the camp site where we grubbed tinfoil dinners and marshmellows. Being the prepared parents Dan and Darci are, they brought all varieties of toys for Charlie, and they became the entertainment staple for the rest of the runts. I don't know what I would have done without the walker they brought. Adam and I were both dreading the night to come sleeping with Lulu in a tent. The last time we did it, she stayed up all night talking, playing and crying. When ten o clock hit, us, Darci and Dan headed down with the babies to sleep at home. I'm glad we didn't stay too because we heard horror stories of babies crying all night. Oh how times have changed, I really miss camping. Maybe one day when Lulu is a bit older we will go again.

We left the Cinca Terra because we thought, let's go explore the West coast of the Rivera. Bad Idea. So, we spent most of the day traveling and then when we got there, we were like, why did we leave? The beaches weren't that nice, and neither were the towns. So, we took our stuff and headed back East to Manarola. Adam spent an hour hiking every street looking for a spare room and he finally got lucky with the last spare room in town.

Do you see Adam jumping? If I counted how many times he jumped, I bet it would've been in the hundreds. He said he got a high from it. His toms were his jumping shoes and they didn't last long, they unraveled in no time. There was always a fresh slew of people watching from the cliff, so when Adam jumped, people would trip out and clap.

When we were swimming around in the rocks, an old lady pulled out an octopus she found in the water and was playing with it. It's legs were all going wiggedy wack, but she wasn't scared none.

I wish I may, I wish I might...

What did we eat for every meal? Pizza. Neither of us could even look at it by the end of the trip. I don't know how all those skinny Italians eat so many carbs. One night I ordered mussels and let's just say I.N.D.I.A.(I'll never do it again)! It was pretty nasty, but didn't stop me from finishing every last piece. For some reason, they brought us the wrong pizza twice with anchovies on it. I wanted to throw up, I don't know how people eat that crap. You could smell it a mile away. Guess how much a glass of water is? $4. And a coke? $5. At least the gelato was cheap, it was our side kick staple with pizza.

The Cinca Terra was pretty amazing. We would see little towns nestled in between grape vines on cliffs. Being the lemon that I am, I got really car sick and had to take lots of breaks. Why didn't I bring my motion sickness bracelets?

We were blown away by the Riviera. The water was crystal clear, and had an aqua color that was hard to believe. Having a car there, well, wasn't the best idea. Everytime we saw a couple on a scooter, it hurt my heart. Next time I am definitely getting a scooter to travel around. It would be perfect. Some of the towns you can't even get to by car, so we would park at the top of a mountain and walk down to explore. This city was hands down my favorite. Even thought this area was littered with Americans, I didn't care none because it was unreal. We rented someones spare room for a couple of nights and spent our time laying out, snorkling and jumping off rocks.

Southern Italy's Foliage has a lot of desert plants and succulents. They grow in between the rocks. I love the colors and patterns they create

That girl was giving me the look of death. Adam jumped off this rock all day long. I did it a couple of times and then was good. I heard some people yelling "jelly fish" and then Adam jumped and landed right on top of it. Luckily he didn't get stung, but it gave me a good scare. It was an eventful stay with much eating pizza and swimming. It was delightful.

The heat was intense. This was when we were walking down the mountain from our car. I was sweating from every pore.

Camping was such a bust. They sandwich you in right next to 20 other tents on the cement and charge $60 per night. I went to take a shower and when I got undressed ready to turn the water on, it wouldn't budge, I finally found out after looking all over that it didn't turn on without some coins. Nice try. So I got dressed, ran to the front, got some change, and did it all over. When I was in the middle of shampooing my hair, the water turned off. Nooooo! With no towel, I was in a panic. So, I put my dress back on and got some more change. On my way out, I saw another couple that ran out of water too. What a cheap camp site. The cherry on top for me was the sewage leak. The stench was so bad that both of us had to cover our noses with our sleeping bags. In the morning, some homey thought it would be a good idea to hammer in his tent at 6am. I decided that would be our last night of camping in Italy.

Our camping mats turned out to be the best layout companions on the rock beaches.

I don't know what that homie was planning on doing with his cart full of rocks.

Awhile ago, Adam and I took a short trip to the Italian Riviara for one last horrah before baby number 2. It was just like the good old times without Lulu and sometimes we would forget that we even had a baby. It was wierd. But by the end, I couldn't believe how much I missed the little bug. We lived it up with our new freedom.

San Fruttuoso

I think this was in the running for Adams favorite place. I slept the whole visit here on the beach, I felt like such a bump on a log. It was an old monastry on the water.

I looked like a battered wife with my biking bruises.

After picking up our car, we headed East towards the beach. The airport lost our camping bag, so we stayed in Recco for a couple of days. Adam called it Chelsea's town because I was obsessed. It wasn't the prettiest city we went to, but it was lively, with no tourists and family friendly.
What is this contraption you might ask? I dunno. Looks like something that would make it's appearance on "Aliens."

We had a four hour layover in Paris and when we went to get on our plane, we realized that we got the times wrong. Ooopsies. So, we missed our flight and had to stay a night in Paris. I was a little checked out, I won't lie, but I slapped on my makeup and went out on the town. I was floating. We didn't last long and scrammed back to our hotel. Ended up sleeping in and didn't have time to hit up the Modern Art Museum, so we just walked around for a bit. That city is magical, but you need weeks to see it.
On the airplane, I didn't know what to do with my new found freedom. We were both busy little bees catching up on our computers, reading, drawing, you name it. I didn't even know what to do with myself.

Roselle turned 99 this year. We celebrated by going to tennis club and eating a feast. Amanda and I were the only ones wearing bikinis, and grandma said, "cover up!" when Amanda took off her cover up. Amanda was in charge of the t-shirts again this year and they were amazing. I'll post some pictures of them later. Handing out and dealing with the money of the tshirts was another story, it was a nightmare. People were going nuts on us. Amanda also got roped into taking the family picture with over 100 people. Poor poor lad. Next year for grandmas 100th there are rumors of a cruise.

Every time we do the target thing, we vow to never, ever do it again. But, we always come crawling back for more. If you can stick it out, it's worth the bargain. Aly came with us and was such a good soldier to stick it out. I think that our photographer has possibly the worst job in the universe. I am sure. I love the zoo. Hogle zoo is so high-roller, the last time we went to a zoo it was in Vietnam and the animals were in tiny cages without any foliage. Poor little guys. I saw one of the zoo keepers hit one of the monkey cages with a stick while yelling and the monkey hissed and showed it's fangs. It was a lawsuit waiting to happen. I'm still terrified of monkeys ever since I was attacked by a baboon. Lulu had fun, but I think she is still too young.

The river water is straight off the mountain, it's ice cold. I can't even walk in it without my feet freezing, but Lulu loves it.
This scrapper picture of Lulu reminds me so much of Amanda and I as tykes. We were scrawny and always dirty.
Looked out my window to see Adam raking in the rain, that is the way to a girls heart if you ask me.

the beach has become a breeding ground for bees this summer. I was terrified Lulu was going to get stung(or Adam), I don't know which would be worse. Adam is out of commission when he gets stung.

Lately, snakes have been making their way to meet me in my path, whether it is on my runs or bike rides. Gross. In college, I would have caught it and dragged it home with me. Amanda has this fear that a snake is going to get caught in her spokes while she is mountain biking and bite her. Today I lifted up our garage door and a snake was chillin right underneath the door, it coiled up and hissed at me. Before I could do anything, it slithered into the depths of our junk.
I was working in the garden the other day when I looked over and saw a beautiful large buck laying the in the grass. He caught me by surprise and I didn't dare to get any closer because he didn't seem scared of me. It made my heart pitter patter. I wonder if he is the one stomping on my onions and eating my tomatoes. Don't!

I feel like Lulu is all mine. It's hard to explain, but I feel like we have a special connection. She is like my mini me, follows me everywhere and copies my every move, including painting. She is definitely a mama's girl.

This weekend Aly, Amanda and I went biking up in our favorite spot corner canyon. Aly is the most fearless rider I have been with, she is hard core. It was the first day the second part of rush was open and there was a lot of loose dirt, my worst enemy. I got overly confident after a couple of small jumps and fell over my handle bars into a sage brush. That's what did most of the damage. After that, Amanda was riding behind me and since I was a sketcher, it made her into a sketcher. I heard a fall and looked behind me and this is what I saw. Pretty amazing. She fell right into the crevasse. Go big or go home. I'm surprised the gash on my arm didn't put Aly into a fainting frenzy.

Sandpoint

Sandpoint didn't disappoint this year. We did a lot of swimming, cruising, muling, walking and hangouts by the camp fire. We are already talking about returning soon. I can't wait until we have our own place there.

This afternoon at Muskrat was definitely my highlight. Drew and Adam built a fire and when the sun began to set and the winds cooled, it was like magic. Zach was in heaven fishing and hooked five fish in thirty minutes. The water was crystal clear and it felt as though the lake was all ours. My only complaint was swimming through the lilly pads, they got all snagged and tangled on my arms and it gave me the shivers.

Aly and Larry came up for a couple of days on their way to Banff and Glacier. I wished they would've stayed longer.

We were on our way to green bay on Pend Oreille lake when the cops pulled us over for having too many people on a boat. It was ghetto, and we didn't let up without a fight, no sir. But, we went the next day anyways by car and had a grand old time searching for rocks to fill every nook and cranny in our houses. The boys had terror in their eyes when they saw how many treasures we were taking home. Still have to think of something to do with them, maybe a Christmas craft..that's my awnser when I am in doubt.

This mexican dress completely unraveled when it went through the laundry. We had a good run for one day.

Pretty much sums up Lulu the whole trip. She was ticked off and wanted nothing to do with nobody. Threw the most crazily possessed tantrums I have ever witnessed, I just couldn't figure it out. Even took her to the doctor to find what was wrong. He was stumped too and said it was probably just a virus. I think it was the people and socializing, but what what do I know? The second we got home, she was as happy as could be. I'm just glad to have my sweet, happy girl back

American Fork Canyon

A couple of weeks ago, my family came up to our neck of the woods and went camping in American Fork canyon. It's one of my favorite places in Utah and every time I go up there, I pinch myself that I live here. It looks as though you are walking through the mountains of Switzerland and it's all in our backyard. I'll take it. We convinced everyone to go on the Silver lake "one hour hike." Ended up being over 4 hours before we finished, the kids were hungry, babies were checked out, but the adults were happy. It was good.

It's happened. Lulu is one of those giant babies I used to gawk at. She looks like such a little beef cake in her spider costume. Grandma ros said she looked like the black widow. I left to hang out with grandma and Amanda while Adam stayed home to hand out candy to a whole bunch of nobodies. Not one trick or treater this year. I'm kind of excited about our freedom and in the future we are going to hightail out of here and seize candy from some high roller draper neighborhood. Suckers!

Lillypads in the creek. I have bad memories of frog catching here- We laid on surfboards and when I got off, I noticed that there were millions of little bites all over my body. I get the shivers every time we creep here

Waiting in the dr. office for Adams hernia. We drove to Vegas for Adams procedure because we found a guy on the internet that was half the price. Why not? So, I packed up, and drove Adams sorry self to sin city. I listened to Dracula on CD while Adam and baby slept. Good times. His doctor was legit and when we told him that all the hotels in Vegas were sold out do to a desert rave, he said he would come and check on Adam in Mesquite via motercycle. We could hear him a mile away before he arrived. It was the twilight zone for sure, pretty much the whole trip was. A lot of fast food, a little thrift shopping and we were on our way. After Adams surgery, I loaded him in the car, and hit the road. He was a trooper. The thrift shops in Mesquite are hurtin. I ditched this joint early because I thought they might throw a bag over my head and shove me in the cellar. It was sketchy. It was a house disguised as a thrift shop. Perfect pickings for some serial killer. It was a whole bunch of rubbish anyways.

Thought it would be a good idea to watch fireworks on the roof, wrong, very wrong. The lights were like the size of a pin and the worst part was that we could hear them all around, but couldn't see them. So, we packed up, woke up the baby and drove to thanksgiving point where they didn't disapoint. My highlight was seeing a buck right outside of our front door. He wasn't even scared none.

This year has been the year for working in our yard. Bigger garden(+ drip system), clearing out the field down below, putting in entrance blocks, pebble path and wild grass, berries, and fruit trees, yadi yada.

I picked up a gardening book at costco that was written by a Utah scrapper pro gardene(Gorden wells) and I took on my garden as a sort of experiment. Even planted some seeds and didn't have much faith, but to my dismay, the radishes and beets sprouted and flourished. Now the carrots on the other hand, well, those didn't really have the same story. Only a few came up. The deer are already chiseling away the tomatoes, but I think I am the proudest of the drip system. Installed by yours truly. It was a lot more work than anticipated

Blackberries, and Rasberries. Cross your fingers for these guys. They have been the biggest pain to keep weeded. Any suggestions?
Mid season- garden is growing out of control, I am getting overwhelmed by the weeds.
The river, the river, oh the river. Floods our fire pit every night and during the day it looks as though it could eat kenya. We just seeded the field with wild grass before the water begun to flood. I will be so sad if our seeds got taken down stream before they took. The bees are having a hay day using the sand as nesting glue, they have pretty much claimed the beach area as their own. Adam escaped a sting today by a pure miracle. You don't know what it's like when he gets stung, the world stops

This area turns into a big ball of mud every winter, so we put in some cement blocks with a vine ground cover. I will post some more yard renovations soon
